All of the augmented Hades weapons are forged using a shard of his aether so wielding one is like bringing him along with you on your journey. Red Mages use the aether inside of themselves to channel both white and black (light and dark) magic through their weapons. The chestpiece is similar to that of the dark robes that a certain ancient Final Fantasy 14 race wears. This glamour set is more than just fashion, it's central to the lore of Final Fantasy 14.
